Hence, they were not living peacefully and they view each other as the main security threat. Despite of the war, there was a failure to reunite the Countries.

The ongoing division had deepened with its distinct culture as well as historical background (Suh, M. , 2000). South Korea was invaded in June, by the year of 1950, like the other areas for a dramatic American concentration on Asian affairs, particularly after the massive Chinese Communist military intervention to rescue the North Koreans. At the end of the Cold War between East and West, the situation on the Korean Peninsula also began. Its aim was to improve and the two Koreas attempted to reduce tension through high-level peace talks. Now over 120 countries have diplomatic relations with both Koreas. Despite heavy U. S. involvement, North Vietnam won. In 1976, the country was reunited. In 1979, Vietnamese invaded and installed a puppet government after several years of horrifying act of violence under the Pol Pot. Throughout 1980s, the fight between the Khmer Rouge and the Vietnamese continued and by 1989, Vietnam had withdrawn its troops. An interim government, in 1993, UN-mediated elections was established.

Moreover, monarchy of Cambodia was reestablished. On the other hand in Laos, the victory of Vietnam over the South Vietnam brought the communist Pathet Lao into complete control (“Indochina wars: 20th-century conflicts in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia,” 2007; Lee, R. , 2007). ” Then, leading to almost military conflicts, North Korea’s nuclear program emerged. Soon, the crisis was peacefully defused through the Geneva Framework Agreement. The Cold War between the two states persisted. It is believed that upcoming summit meeting between the two Koreas can be the step towards ending the conflict (Suh, M. , 2000).
